ADVOCACY IN AASU

Since its founding in 1993, AASU has served as a collective body to represent the interests and demands of Asian American students at the University of Florida. Through initiatives focused on belonging, legacy, and outreach, our Department of Advocacy elevates the voices of our community on UF campus and beyond.

The Advocacy Committee on Unity

The Advocacy Committee on Unity (ACU) formed in Fall 2024 in response to FL Senate Bill 266’s impacts on the UF Asian American community, with the purpose of bringing together representatives from sub-orgs and affiliates to work on advocacy projects and to keep everyone in the loop about ongoing changes on campus. Applications to join the ACU are released at the beginning of every semester — keep an eye out here and on our Instagram (@ufaasu) for more information!

BELONGING

The ACU's Belonging subcommittee revitalizes the former space of the APIDSE with fun events, as well as pushing for the establishment of an APID Institute.

LEGACY

The ACU's Legacy subcommittee preserves and uplifts APIDA history at UF through the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program.

OUTREACH

The ACU's Outreach subcommittee amplifies student voices and community issues through partnerships and through the Tea Time with AASU podcast.
